IPv6 Questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • After reading several whitepapers, MS blogs and technet training materials, I have a few quick IPv6 questions:

1: Is it common practice to run a DHCPv6 server on Server 2008/Vista/7 networks, or are most people just using autoconfig?  I am asking about companies trying to use IPv6 as their primary protocol, and yes, I realize that autoconfig is on by default in Vista/7.

2: Is there a hands-on-lab (or similar whitepaper) for setting up a practical IPv6 network?  I found http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?FamilyID=9db5abdf-80e0-4c3e-9204-69c6c65e2195 but it requires physical machines and I just don't have enough spares to make this work.

3: I understand that most software will not take advantage of IPv6 enhancements, but will all (or nearly all) modern corporate software function on an IPv6 network?

    Thanks in advance.
