What product to migrate to given Sync Framework 2.1 sunset? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Given Sync Framework 2.1's scheduled sunset in 2021 ... what are other product options to which to migrate?  Any MS talk/rumor of a replacement product?  I think syncing will still be as necessary in 5 years as it is today and many of us early adopters (... since SFx 1.0) will be looking for alternatives.

I have deployed many very stable SFx 2.1 ecosystems where many SqlCE data files are sync'd to their SQL Server over WCF where SFx was the perfect fit.

Everything is super stable and I had a lot of great help and ideas from forums (especially great help from JuneT!!!) early on.  We are beginning a major rewrite to add more functionality ... this would be the time to make a switch.

  • Can I ask where you saw that Sync Framework was going away in 2021?  If I Google "microsoft sync framework sunset 2021", the only relevant hits are your post.
