In the Diagnostic Report you will see "Windows License Type: OEM SLP" (line 9).
It is not possible for OEM SLP copies of Vista to run on any other computer then the one it was preinstalled on. The reason I say it's impossable is that OEM SLP keys are geared to work with the special instructions found only on that Manufacturer's computer hardware. So when Vista is installed using the OEM SLP key (at the factory) Vista looks at the motherboard and see the special instructions and Activates itself. (that's why people that buy a computer with Vista pre-installed, did not need to Activate Vista when they brought it home)
If a user has a computer that did not come with Vista pre-installed and it is running a copy of Vista that has a OEM SLP key, that copy of Vista will not Activate.

If you mean to say that this copy of Vista was Activated (in the past) on that computer (that it did not come pre-installed on) then I would say you got a Hacked copy of Vista. Hacked copies of Vista will appear to be an OEM SLP copy of Vista and would not need to be activated. This Hack will be disabled in the Vista Service Pack 1 update, that will be released shortly. Please contact the person or company, that sold you this copy of Vista, and demand the Genuine Microsoft Software that you paid for. I also encourage you to submit a Piracy Report at http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/

Hello skeltz,
Pre-installed copies of Vista, that come on computers built by Large Manufacturers (i.e. License Type: OEM SLP) should self-activate when re-installed. Is Vista asking to be Activated? If not, then it does not need to be activated.

Vista wasnt originally on my computer, after reinstalling it, it is now telling me I have so many days to activate it again. Could it have something to do with it being activated before ???
