    Wanted to show a pal the benefits of whs


    installed fresh new copy on a hard drive updated all of the 386mb of windows updates,activated system everything worked a treat


    sent it down to him

    And 1 day later he can log into system and then it says his free period has expired


    Was sealed disc from microsoft

    If his system date is too far off this can happen (and it also happens sometimes for no obvious reason. If you only sent your friend the hard drive which was then put in another system Windows may not be happy with the changed hardware.

    You can reinstall using the same media but without activating / entering the key during install. This will give you a 30 day grace period for activation. Best activate on the final system.

    I actually built him a new pc


    the date and regional setting were set correctly

    it was then update thro windows update to latest power pack and then activated



    system switch on/off correctly a couple of times before i boxed it up and sent it to him

    when ups delivered he unboxes plugs in and the time has ran out

    less than 24hrs later
