Network Connection problem with hp pavilion dv3-2155mx (64-bit) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

So I've been having this problem for a while now. For some reason my laptop is unable to connect to any wireless internet providers. When I scroll over the wireless connection icon on the bottom right, wireless networks show up but when I try to connect to them, I am given this message: "The connection was unsuccessful". When I click on the Troubleshoot problems tab, it says "Problems found: The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running". I've tried clicking the Try these repairs as an administrator, but I get the same message about the diagnostics policy service not running.

I've tried going to hp.com and I downloaded the drivers and installed all of them but one (5 out of the 6). The one that won't install is the one titled Software Support for HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology for Microsoft Windows 7. I've tried downloading it on several different computers using several different flash drives but once the driver is on my laptop, it is unable to install and shows the message "The contents of this file cannot be unpackaged. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again".

I've already taken it to BestBuy and had them look at it, but they were quoting me between $200-250 to fix it. They also said they would more likely wipe it (since the system restore isn't working -- the restore point is not set far enough back). I've tried wiping it myself but I haven't had any luck. After choosing to wipe it and being asked to install the Windows 7 disc, it did not accept it and said the reinstallation couldn't be done. I'm not sure if this is because the Windows 7 disc is not the one that came with my laptop (It's my fathers).

If anyone has any insight on this problem, I would greatly appreciate it! This whole thing has been a nightmare and I start graduate classes in a week so I want to get this figured out! :)
