Office 2007 validates ok but nag screen won't go away

Question
-
I've had office 2003 plus Access 2007 on my computer (Vista), when Access 2007 got marked as not genuine I uninstalled Access 2007. Now when I install a genuine copy of Office 2007 ultimate (to replace Office 2003), Outlook, Word, Excel and Access all have the "Not genuine" notice. When I click on it and validate everything is ok but the "Not genuine" notice won't go away. What to do?

Hi warpman,
Would you reboot, then navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\ and delete either the 'data.dat' and/or the 'opa12.dat' files. (Note: You may need to turn off hidden files. Go to control panel, double-click Folder Options, click the View tab and select "Show hidden files, folders amd drives")
Then reboot again and open an Office program. My hope is that this will reset Notifier and force it to recheck Office's Validation status.
If that does not work, the only other option I can give is to open a free support request at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52029. The best way to explain the issue to the tech is that you uninstalled a non-genuine copy of Office, installed a Genuine copy. Office is validating as Genuine, but Notifier is still reporting the validation status of the old (now uninstalled) non-genuine copy of Office.
Hope that helps,

Hi warpman,
Would you go to http://microsoft.com/genuine/diag and click the Start Diagnostic button? The site will confirm your OS is set up to Validate correctly as well as look for common issue. If anything is found it will either give you the option to have the site correct it automatcally or provide you with steps to resolve manually.
Once you pass the Diag, click the Validate Office button.
If Office Validates as Genuine, reboot and open Office and see if it still gives the Non-Genuine notification.
If Office Validates as non-Genuine, rerun the MGA Diagnostic Report and post it (to see if anything has changed)
Thank you,

Hi again.
I don't have the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\", is this because I have Vista?
I did however find a data.dat file in "C:\ProgramData\Office Genuine Advantage\data\" which seems to be the one? If I delete this and reboot and then go through the validation process a new data.dat file is created in this folder. This does not solve the problem unfortunately, the notice is still there.
I also tried to delete the file "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA\opa12.dat" and reboot, then I have to go through the activation wizard which goes fine but still the Non genuine notice won't go away.
I've also tried to reboot, delete both files (data.dat and opa12.dat), reboot again, run Outlook, go throug the activation procedure and then the verification process, everything seem ok, but alas, still that notice...Thursday, July 2, 2009 9:03 AM
