  • Question

  • Hi,

       I am getting following error when I try to run portal app in Visual Studio.

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 170.

    Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

    Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 170.

    Following is the Connection String which i have used. Index 170 is pointing to one of the Device ID character.

    <connectionStrings>
      <add name="Xrm" connectionString="ServiceUri=https://12345678.crm.dynamics.com; Username=123456789012345@hotmail.com; Password=xxxxxxxxxxxx; Device ID=11lkm3v1apfl48oi08a3cfeont; Device Password=xxxxxxxx;xxxxxxx;xxxxxxx"/>
      <add name="Live" connectionString="Application Id=0000000000000000; Secret=aaaaaaa"/>
     </connectionStrings>

    I have replaced the dlls in the project with latest SDK dlls. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

  • That appears to be an error of ASP.NET parsing the web.config file.  Please check your device password for any special characters that might interfere with the xml format of the file.

  • Thanks Shan for your reply. I have regenerated the Device ID and Password. It's working with the new one. Not sure what went wrong with old one.
