Remove duff contact from SQL directly RRS feed

    Hello folks,

    I'm tyring to delete an unknown contact which was added in using the LCSaddcontacts script.

    (It's an unknown contact due to a typo)

    When i run the lcsaddcontacts script with the /delete switch to delete the contact I get an "invalid line" message every time.

    I have been told you can remove the dodgy contact from the SQL database itself.  Has anyone tried this and if so how did they do it?

    Hi mate, in order to remove the contact you need to look at the username in the communicator contact list very carefully, and take a note of the exact case of each letter.

    In my case, the problem was caused by the fact that my contacts file was like sip:fred.jones@domain.com but once this had been put into the contacts list using LCSAddcontacts it was appearing as Fred.Jones (capital F and J)

     

    If you modify the contacts file to reflect the exact Character case that it's seen as on the contact list in the communicator client, then the /delete should then work.

     

    See how you get on good luck.

    Thanks for the reply!  That was exactly the problem.  That really sucks, I was trying to set up an automatic script that ran every night.  What it did is build a contact list using dsquery.  Then every night it would delete the previous days contacts from everyone's list, then build a new contact list, then add the contacts back in again.  That way I wouldn't have to manually keep people's contact lists up to date as we added and deleted new users.

     

    Oh well, guess I just need to manually delete the users now and look at how it shows up in the contact lists.
