How do I create the HD View files? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Maybe I'm just being thick here, but I just installed the HD view utilities, which claim to install a Photoshop plugin, plus the command line utility.
    I also installed ICE.

But I cannot see any way to create the HD View content.

In ICE I can stitch together photos and export a large JPG photo. But I cannot see any options to create any HD View files.

I cannot see where the HD View utilities or photoshop plugin have been installed to. I search using the windows explorer and it finds nothing.
    Where on earth are they?

Surely it can't be this difficult?

  • In ICE, Once you have dropped your images and they got stiched, at the bottom in the EXPORT area, where it says Format, there is a drop down list, if you click on the drop down list you will see a number of available formats, including HD View Tileset; DeepZoom Tileset; HD images

About the HD View Photoshop Plugin, Once you have run the install of the program you download here(http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/345a52c3-fe44-4045-94b4-4b26a93a907c/default.aspx ), it should have placed a file named HDView.8be inside the folder Import-Export, of the Photoshop Plug-ins Folder.
Inside Photoshop, once you loaded your image, you go to File Then Export, then HDView & DeepZoom

  • Hi Scrambler.

Thanks for answering this.  One little clarification.  For the Photoshop plugin.  The HDView.8be is initially placed in the install folder of the HD View Utilities package  e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Research\HD View Utilities.  You need to manually copy HDView.8be to your Photoshop Plug-ins\Import-Export folder, e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\Import-Export.
