Fresh Install of WHS 2011 - Keep Existing Backups???

Question
-
I need to upgrade my WHS 2011 with a new motherboard, obviously that requires a new installation of WHS 2011.
Currently, I have the OS installed on a 200 GB SATA drive and client backups on a 1.5 TB drive.
First, I would like to keep the existing client backups. Can I do that? Is there a special way to accomplish this or WHS 2011 see the drive automatically?
Second, if the backups can be kept, can I then move them to a different drive, i.e. larger raid drive.?
Thanks!!

Hi,
The backup for the clients stored in another disk partition. If you just would like to reinstall WHS 2011, the files/folders on another disk partition drive will not be formatted.
If the disk driver got installed properly, the WHS 2011 will see the drive automatically. However, the client need to reconnect to the server since the WHS is a whole new server. I don't think the existing client backups could be viewed via Dashboard in the whole new WHS 2011. Cause these backups are not taken by the new WHS.
Also I'm not sure about your new motherboard, if the new motherboard has the same chipset drivers, I don't think you need to reinstall the WHS 2011. You'd better involve the hardware manufacturer to have a check on it.
BTW, I don't experience your scenario before. I think you'd better backup everything to an extended USB drive before taking action.

You may find that re-installation is not required. Just supply the drivers when prompted. You may need to re-activate WHS.
