How do I talk to two home servers on same PC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently added Acer Aspire server to home netwqork which already had HP EX485+3 HDDs. The installing SW UN-installed the previous WHS console, then reinstalled a new console which only talks to the Aspirehome. Consequently, I have not installed the Acer onto any of the other PCs on the LAN. Using RDP lets me get to many functions, but not all.

How can I get a WHS Console for both servers onto one (EACH) PC?

  • You can only access one home server via the Connector software at one PC. To change the server, which you access, use discovery.exe in C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server on your client.
Using Remote Desktop as workaround works, as you already know. Another option as workaround would be a virtual PC, depending from what you are trying to do.
Remote Access with the WHS website works only for one server as well. (For the second server you could use Remote Desktop with some configuration changes.)
Accessing the shared folders works for both servers via \\yourservername shortcut, if you have identical user names.
