Visual Studio must be installed before you can install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Developer Toolkit RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Visual Studio 2013 Standard.

I downloaded the CRM SDK from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=40321

I go into \SDK\Tools\DeveloperToolkit and click the file: CrmDeveloperToolsVS12_Installer

I get this error: "Visual Studio must be installed before you can install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Developer Toolkit".

    What am I doing wrong?

  • Developer toolkit is not compatible with VS 2013.

You need to install VS 2012. there is also an unsopported method to install the developer toolkit on VS 2013: http://www.hashtagcrm.com/?p=79

  • It's not supported. I'm not sure why Visual Studio 2013 is listed as a requirement in the SDK download page.

It's listed because the CRM SDK DLLs can be used with Visual Studio 2013, only the developer toolkit and fetchxml bids are not compatible yet
