My computer was installed with genuin XP home edition, then upgraded over the years with Windows update and SP2.
To accelerate my computer I disabled the automatic file index, but this seemed to creat new problems, and so I enabled the function again.
Windows was having some problems so I repaired it with my a CD that combines my original XP cd updated to SP2 on a new CD, as explaiend in a microsoft forum. I repaired windows XP SP2 successfully.
During repair of windows I registerd my XP version and I received confirmation that it was registered.
Since then I cannot update XP SP2, I have done all diagnostics I could find, please see below (sorry for the French)
