Syncing two computers with files in different directories RRS feed

  • Question

  • What worked under live sync isn't working under live mesh. On Computer 1, the folders I want to sync are under D:\Documents\My Documents while on Computer 2, the folders are under C:\Users\Jim\My Documents. Folders I want to keep in sync are already on each computer in the places indicated.

From what I see, if I mark a folder for syncing on Computer 2, they will appear on Computer 1 under C:\Users\Jim (not under My Documents). If I set up the sync from Computer 1, the folders will appear on Computer 2's C: drive, not on D:

I do not see now, in its current form, how to specify folder location as I could with Live Sync. If it is possible, how would I make it happen?

  • For discussion of the new Windows Live Mesh (formerly Sync), (as well as the released Live Sync version) go here:

    http://windowslivehelp.com/forums.aspx?productid=24

This forum is for Live Mesh Beta, the older version.

I have not poked around much, but I added a folder that was within my Documents on one PC and on each subsequent PC in the Mesh, I had to browse to where I wanted to sync. That was not the case with Favorites, where selecting to Sync Favorites only caused the sync for the current logged in user.

In any event, head over to the other forum.

What is your location shown as for your LiveID? I suspect that it is driven by this setting. I see no language/locale option on windowslivehelp.

  • When I login to live.com everything is in English.

When I go to windowslivehelp.com everything is in Dutch.

I'm sure there are more discussions at windowslivehelp.com in English.

    I found the language settings.

Click on My Profile in the upper right after signing in. language is one of your choices in your profile for WindowsLiveHelp.com

    Who'd have though?

  • After changing the Language preference in IE8 (Tools - Internet Options - Appearance, Languages) the site will appear in English
