  • Started getting "not genuine message a couple of days ago.  This happened last year--very annoying and time-consuming.  Thanks for a quick solution.  sbdresner@gmail.com.  Here's my diag report:

    But does anybody know what causes the tampered file: Tampered File: %systemroot%\system32\slui.exe|slui.exe.mui|COM Registration?  This problem has been going on for years.

    I wish I did! - so far, a reinstall seems to be the only solution for any of the major File Mismatches, as SFC usually fails.

    Hopefully, if enough people contact MS for a solution, they'll be able to isolate the cause and develop a solution for it.
