ASP.NET MVC5 States Management RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Experts,

I've been learning MVC pattern for some time and here are my questions:

    1. From web forms there were state management for

    • View state

    • Control state

    • Hidden fields

    • Cookies

    • Query strings

    • Application state

    • Session state

I am trying to write a simple web application utilizing MVC and Session state does not really function as expected.  So my method were that after passing a sign-in to enable session state.  The user and password are verified and page is directed using RedirectToAction() to a specified view.  However, after checking the Session["key"] and value the "Session[]" does not appear to work and is grayed out.  Has this ever happened to anyone or I am using the Session state wrong

    2. Being a new at ASP.NET MVC are there any functions to replace the page lifecycle that was included in Web Forms?

There any way to create custom server controls without having the luxury of knowing when and what is being processed before a control is rendered. i.e. Preload, PreInit, page_load and so on.

    Thanks for your time!
