Scripting commands for Mesh folders RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Are there any scriptable commands in the works for controlling Mesh folders (a la VBscript/PowerShell)? I've been experimenting with Server Core 2008, and I can install Live Mesh, login with my Live ID, and set folder sync settings for the server device using another computer (e.g. sync when files are added). The only thing missing is the ability to tell Moe the disk path to put the files on the Server Core. I have an external drive and would prefer storing the Mesh data there instead of the user Desktop.

I realize this use is beyond most normal setups, and that I could install the full version of Win08 Server to get the GUI tools, but where's the fun in that? In any case, the ability to control Mesh folders from a script would be very cool.

  • Hi,

The ability to sync network & removable drives is a popular feature request, and please feel free to add your votes to our Suggestion sticky.  You may also wish to visit our developer forum for your scripting question - there may already be some relevant discussions going on over there.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • Considering the considerable programability of the mesh itself (not the client) - will there ever be a local libraries that will allow client interaction?

  • revisiting this old thread to do some cleanup, I think that asking your question in the Developer forum, if you haven't already done so, nachmore, would be a good idea.

  • Unfortunately the dev forum focuses on the Live Framework which is separate to the Live Mesh client - and this is specific to the client. The Live Framework works and interacts with the mesh regardless of the state of the client, while client interaction from code (powershell etc) is not documented anywhere.

Not being a developer myself, I haven't visited that forum. Thanks for the clarification. So, the best I can suggest is starting a new thread with your question or posting your request for documentation of the client as a "suggestion" feedback on Connect.
