Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) forum.  Your issue is related to Product Activation.  The purpose of this forum is the support of the WGA program and your question falls out of the scope for our support. A great place to start is speaking with the vendor who sold your license/product key. Below are some websites dealing with How to Tell and Microsft Genuine Advantage. Please take a moment to educate yourself in the realm of Genuine Microsoft software.

In cases where the product key has been input, we will ask the customer to run a diagnostic report on the machine they are experiencing difficulty with. Since you have not used the key your purchased, I will also include information regarding telephone activation. They may or may not be able to assist you further as well.

“Activate by Phone” method from the activation Wizard. Telephone numbers for Activation Centers vary by product license and country/region. Use the number provided on your Activation Wizard screen to call the Microsoft Activation Center.  Please follow the below guidance for information regarding telephone activation for activating Windows.

To contact a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows by phone, follow these steps:

    1.

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Activate Windows.

Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the notification area.

    2.

Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to active Windows now.

    3.

Click Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement, click Back, and then click Next.

    4.

Follow the steps in the Activate Windows by phone dialog box, and then click Next.

Note The number appears now and differs based on the location that you select.

    5.

When activation is completed and you receive the following message, click OK.

You have successfully activated your copy of Windows.

  • Jashuaz,

Curious where did you purchase Windows from?  Windows should be genuine if you purchased it from an authorized source. Should you have any doubts whatsoever I recommend you to please visit http://www.howtotell.com . Please take the time and view the various threads off this site and compare your packaging and actual media against what you see on the site. We can not make any determinations from the forums if your product is genuine or non-genuine unless Windows has already been installed and you run the MGA Diagnostic Test. In turn we would need for you to paste the Diagnostic Results in this thread so we may analyze it. Hopefully this will provide you with further assistance.

    Take care,
