Feature Request: Automatically select audible ("ring") profile when charging

Question
-
I'm using Windows Mobile 5.0 on a Motorola Q phone.
My previous Motorola phones automatically selected an audible ring when I plugged the phone into a charger, even if the phone had been set to 'vibrate', or some other non-audible ring profile. And I got spoiled by that, and would love it if that were an option!
I normally use a 'vibrate' ring profile, since when I'm out in public I hate the sound of ringing mobile phones -- eveb mine! . However, when I've plugged my phone into its charger or usb cable, it's just silly that the phone should stay on 'vibrate': The phone should "know" that there's no chance of me feeling it vibrate (because it's charging, and not on my person); and so, it should select an audible ring profile. And when I unplug the charger, it should revert to the prior profile.
If this is already an option in Windows Mobile 5, please excuse this post -- and please tell me how to achieve this! Otherwise, would anybody else care to second this request?
Cheers,

Thanks for sharing your investigations Amura. Here's a RunAppAtEvent reference on MSDN that might be of some assistance (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsmobiledev/thread/6bc578c6-3dae-4af5-a6e7-3aa327b35c3a/ ) even though it's describing a hibernations/wake up scenario rather than the charging/plug in scenario you are discussing here. I'm also sharing this entire thread with the team to make sure the team is aware of the importance of this feature. If the team has any feedback to add we will do so on this thread. I'm marking this thread as answered just for internal tracking purposes but feel free to continue to comment and the thread stays viewable for ongoing discussion. We acknowledge and appreciate your comments.

I have been spoiled by similar features on my previous device. The BlackBerry has similar features regarding setting up profiles. I do not believe even the BlackBerry has this feature yet to change from vibrate to ring when charging but at least there is an easy way to change ringing profiles.
WM6 does not have this feature either and it would be extremely useful. I will second the motion and add that the BlackBerry Ringing Profiles features be added as well!

How is it that here we are on the 6th iteration of Windows Mobile and this has not yet been addressed? Either it's a complete lack of user understanding on the developers part or someone in the feature department has continually been dropping the ball. Regardless, this is rediculous and truly unacceptable that a simple feature like this has not only been overlooked but has been mentioned time and time again while the developers appear to refuse to implement it. My WM6 device has been the best phone I've ever owned and the dev's have done a great job with this one exception. Can we at least get a little feedback or acknowledgement here?!?!?Wednesday, June 11, 2008 11:50 PM

This is possible and I've looked into it. You need to create an app that use the RunAppAtEvent with the charger plugged in event. You make it so it runs an app that adds a few registry entries. I wanted to create the two apps needed but I can't figure out how to write to the registry from an app. So if anyone can give me some sample code for writing some keys to registry and what programs are needed to compile the app that would be awesome and we could possibly have a solution.Thursday, August 13, 2009 3:16 PM
