GAC Install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed the Beta 1 of Sync Services. When trying to add a reference to my project or adding items to the toolbox Visual Studio does not see the assemblies in the GAC. Is there any way to address this? If i add to the toolbox by browsing and close VS 2005, the toolbox resets and all my controls are missing. This has only been happening since installing Sync Services

  • Add Reference tab does not take care of GAC-ed assemblies.  All it follows is specified in a KB article http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=306149

Hence, I would suggest you to add a registry key as mentioned in the KB article with a path as %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Synchronization Services\v1.0\ADO.NET.

That's odd. Check out the VS project file (it is an XML file) and see if the references are saved when you save the project or not?

    Thanks

  • The references are saved, but when i start a new test project i have to do it all over again. I have reinstalled the beta and even installed into the GAC myself. VS just doesnt see the assemblies in the GAC
