OneCare Blocking MySpace Photos RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have recently installed OneCare.  Since its installation, I have had problems viewing photos on MySpace pages.  It's hit or miss which photos on friend's pages will be visible and which won't.  These are pictures of my own kids, their friends, my friends, etc....nothing questionable.  I know it's connected to OneCare because if I disable the firewall, all the pictures are visible.  Can someone tell me what setting I need to adjust so that it stops randomly blocking photos?

    Thanks,

    Pat

  • Per my previous reply, please contact OneCare support to have this investigated. Perhaps there is a conflicting security program on your PC that is causing this behavior with the OneCare firewall.

  • If disabling the firewall allows all pictures to be visible and enabling the OneCare firewall block some pictures, I suspect that the problem is that whatever viewer application is being used by the specific MySpace pages is being blocked by the OneCare firewall, perhaps as an unsafe viewer. I am not familiar enough with MySpace to tell you what could be used to display pictures, but I can tell you that OneCare will not block a simple picture on a web page that is linked and presented via normal HTML.

You may want to contact OneCare support to assist in determining what is being blocked by OneCare. You can also enable detailed firewall logging by going to Change Settings/Logging tab, and after encountering the problem, return to this tab and create a support log, which will open in your web browser.

  • The problem is not only with MySpace.  The firewall is randomly blocking pictures on websites, including http://www.msnbc.msn.com/  It seems unlikely that MSN would be using a program to display images that would put my computer at risk.  Help!  OneCare is definately the source of the problem.  Any ideas on how to fix it?
