CRM 4.0 Outlook client configurations error/issue problem. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Getting error : Action Microsoft.Crm.Config.Client.InstallAbpAction failed.
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

I get this error when trying to install CRM outlook client 4.0 on laptop using XP 2003 outlook on only one out of 7 systems I've performed the upgrade on.

I followed microsoft KB article on making sure the system was (clean) of any previous crm 3.0 app,data...etc. I actually manually removed crm 3.0 from all my systems before performing the upgrade to avoid any issues during the upgrade to 4.0.

This is only happening on one laptop out of 7 that I have upgraded/installed crm 4.0 outlook client.

I installed SP3 for XP on all system and office XP sp3, installed CRM 4.0 outlook client on system.

During the configuration process wizard (when you add in your crm web address, use for this company, check to join the goup for sending errors to microsoft..etc) when it begins to install those configurations after you hit next.......this is when I get the pop up error below.....

    Action Microsoft.Crm.Config.Client.InstallAbpAction failed.
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

I checked http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948312 article....doesn't apply really since I cleaned everything out during the manual installation, But I followed the article anyway.

I also found something that mentioned to check outlook and the language setting to make sure they were set to english by default.

Not sure where else to go but this is definately an isolated issue since this only happened to this one system.

I checked all the registry to make sure the manual process was done completely during the removal of crm 3.0

Has anybody else fun into this issue before??? The system doesn't have an issue finding crm 4.0 server. I can access the webclient from the laptop if I type in the url and access the crm server, so the user has access to the server and browser settings seem to be fine

I'm thinking this is all outlook being clunky again.

    Thanks in advance

  • Ok, first question.  Was the CRM 3.0 client installed before?

If you followed the kb to the letter and still have the problem try this.

This maybe extreme but try removing the installation profile and recreate the installation profile.

You can backup any thing that may be needed but then delete and recreate the profile.

  • Doesnt seem to be too many reponses or posts in this area, but I found a Blog posting saying that SQL Express will not install with XP SP3 (I had the same issue). All you can do is uninstall SP3, install the CRM Client and then re-apply the SP3 . Installed SQL Express seperately doesnt work. Apparently something to do with the XML Parser 6.0.
