Microsoft Word 2007 won't open directly!

  Hello, (If this is in the wrong forum page please redirect me)

  I haven't had a problem before with opening Word 2007 documents. At some point (not sure what changed) I could no more open them directly by double clicking on them or right click open. I have to open an empty Word then use the open button inside and scroll through until I find what I want to open. This is a big hastle when you just want to double click open something in front of your eyes! Please help me and guide me through this problem. Appreciate your time and effort greatly!
