CRM 2011 : Importing notes to an account RRS feed

    Hi,

     I am trying to import notes to an account (CRM 2011)

    Everything works fine except that it is not updating 'owner' field properly, instead of updating with 'owner' value given in the xml file , it is updating the field with the person who is importing the data

    is it something related to permission level?

    I think if you do an Advanced Find and add both the Owner and Created By fields you might see that the Owner field is probably getting set correctly if you properly mapped the Owner field look up during the import set up. The problem might be that Notes (when viewing from inside an entity) don't show the Owner but rather the Created By user. When importing through the wizard, you can't map to or override the Created By field - it will default to the current user who is doing the import.

    I had the same thing happen with Leads, the person doing the import must have change owner permissions on the entity you import to.
