  • Question

  • Hello all,

Cannot say to much about problem without some diagnostic suggestions as Synctoy fails immediately without further information.

Set up a new folder pair (echoing a large file structure 83.4GB (89,675,354,112 bytes on disk) 27,711 files, 2,101 folders from a WinXp SP2 PC to a Vista SP1 PC) which results in a message:

Synctoy has found 29,464 operations to perform, none of which overwrite or delete files.  So start Synctoy run without preview.

    Selected Yes

    Message immediately:

Synctoy has encountered a problem and needs to close!

    What do you suggest?

  • I had the same problem just now. I assume there must be some limit on the no. of files it can handle at once?

  • Tried again - answered No - to should synctoy display 27,000 actions and it worked a treat!

  • Sorry - I should have said that there were a couple of errors listed once synctoy had completed because the source or target path name exceeded the maximum 265 characters.  Probably why it crapped out the first time - but not a particularly elegant error handling routine/exit!
