what goes in "START IN FOLDER" ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot find any info on what goes in the "start in" folder on the "schedule task" screen in windows xp. I insert exactly : "C:\Program Files\SyncToy 2.1\SyncToy.exe-R" including the " marks in the run screen but do not know what goes in the "start in" block.  Also for some reason I get an access denied when I try to set a schedule.  I am the only computer user and do not use a password so I leave the password lines blank and it then denies me access.  I would rather just dump the whole program than have to log in every time I start my pc.   Could this be the problem?

  • The start folder is irrelevant in most cases. Relevant if you want process files in a folder whose path you cannot name to the scheduled program.

Missing password results in the error you see.

    1. Use a password + automatic login = same comfort
    2. Check "Run only if logged on" as a workaround; assuming this condition is ok
