Xbox 360 wireless receiver problems.

  I but an xbox 360 wireless reciever for my pc, i installed drivers off of the microsoft website. (I didn't have a CD drive suitable for the mini disk that came with the receiver, anyway when i go to connect it I press the button on the receiver and the button on the xbox controller to search for devices, the receivers light goes solid (stating that it's connected) and the xbox controller stops doing a spinning rotation of lights but just flashes all 4 lights at once when it should just have one solid light. Any Suggestions?
