Dear fellows,
can anyone point me in the right direction?
I´m in contact with the open-source Videolan (VLC) media player developers, who have their app published on the Xbox One platform for some time now. There´s been several ongoing discussions over at the AVS Forum and elsewhere regarding the inability of Microsoft
to implement a "system-wide" bitstream audio option for the console, allowing users to let the AV receiver/amplifier connected to the console via HDMI to properly take care of incoming audio in an original format. Instead, the Xbox OS forces an audio
to be sent as PCM, so there´s no real passthrough. If this worked as it should, there wouldn´t be an issue with HD audio formats like DTS-HD, Dolby True HD, Atmos, DTS:X to be sent from the console as a passthrough, so any file would be playable in its original
audio via AV receiver and home cinema speakers.
Long story short, the VLC devs have a hard time finding the "Exclusive Mode" in the Xbox´s SDK, so they could do something about the problem and implement the bitstream function in the app. They say Microsoft doesn´t answer when they ask, which
is weird. Can you please tell me who to contact directly at the Xbox dev team so I could help them?
Many thanks,
Jan.
