Microsoft Office is now showing NOT VALIDATED RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have "Microsoft office XP Small Business".  It came with my computer that I purchased from Dell.

Today I installed a bunch of updates from Microsoft.  (I was way behind on updates)  Now it tells me "Not Activated".

I went through the list of programs and they all show up as "already activated" when I try to activat them from the help tab.

  • Hello Ben_fink,

When a longtime activated installation of Office XP or 2003 suddenly can't seem to make up its mind if it is activated or not, this is an indication that the Office license file may be damaged or corrupted.

For resolution, please work thru the Methods in this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275

Most people tell us that running the MS FixIt in Method 2 takes care of the problem.

Please post back to let us know how you do :-)

  • Hi Dan,

I used System restore to take my computer back a few days hoping to be able to get my business comunications back up. Seems the large amout of MS Updates that where installed Feb. 16 caused problems in many areas of the computer.  Before that the computer had been running very smooth.

I ran "MS Fix-It" , then ran Office XP programs, and Front Page 2003.  Both launched an Activation Wizzard so I completed that.  Thing seem to be back to a more reasonable level.  So I again ran the Advantage Diagnostic Tool, but do not know how to tell what the report means.  Report follows . . .

  • Hello Ben_fink,

The report tells us you have genuine installations of an OEM license for Office XP Small Biz and a retail license for FrontPage 2003 on your Dell Dimension 4550.

    It's all good :-)
