A WHILE AGO IT DID THE SAME THING. IT KNOCKED ME OFF AND RESET. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM?.

  • LMORA,

I've moved your post out of the "Off topic" folder to General as you are using OneCare.

Fist off all, please don't type in all CAPS as that is considered rude and is interpreted as shouting.

What do you mean by "knocking me off line" and "resetting itself?" I assume that you mean that the computer reboots with no warning at random times while you are using the computer. This probably means that there is a problem with hardware or a driver/software issue causing Windows to crash. This isn't something that OneCare is designed to resolve or even look for.

You can go to Control Panel/System/Advanced and click on the Settings button for "Startup and recovery" on the tab that displays. In the bottom half of the next page, uncheck the option for "Automatically restart" in the System Failure section. Click OK to close all dialogs. What this does is cause the PC to display an error message when it crashes due to a software/driver/kernel crash instead of rebooting to restart Windows. The information displayed may be rather cryptic, but it could point to the culprit for the crash. When it happens again, make a note of what the screen says - in detail - and contact the PC manufacturer and/or the Solution Center for your operating system -

  • Is there any recent microsoft update occur in the past few days? Are you currently using an XP or a Vista Operating System? Most likely, there might be an issue regarding the operating system itself.
