Dual Boot problems with Windows 7 Custom installation RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • FYI all.
I installed Windows 7 with a custom installation procedure. The host OS is Vista Ultimate 32 bit. The PC is a home built platform with an Intel core 2 duo e6700 with 4 Gb ddr2-6400 ram and several sata HDD's totaling over 2 TB capacity.
After backing up my vital docs etc, I began the install. It actually went smooth as silk but I saw no mention of a dual boot except for the  selection of a different partition for the installation for utilize. Once selected the install went on auto except for the answer boxes and serial key. After install was complete (about 30 minutes) the system restarted and went directly to Windows 7 without the boot selection displaying. (ugg!).
So after playing with the new install, I booted of the Vista dvd and the installer repaired the bcd file and now I have the dual boot environment I expected from the get go. Still need a Sound card driver and a USB Hub driver.
Happy ending, but I'm going to have some red wine and chill!
