Dual Booting Vista + XP different partitions RRS feed

  • Question

  • I used http://www.syschat.com/dual-boot-vista-xp-vista-already-1946.html as a base for starting out. I already had vista home installed on my computer. I recently acquired another internal hard drive and wanted to install a version of XP on it to dual boot. I cannot figure out how to change the device partition value for the second drive from C to A. I also believe I somehow changed the device value under boot loader from C to something else and need to change it back. What are the commands that I would need to put in to do all of this?

Have a pic of bcdedit but I do not know how to post it.

  • first off you need to install the oldest OS first!!!  So looks like you are going to have to start from scratch. So your other issues become mute. XP MUST be installed first.

    Good luck my freind
