XP activation after software issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • After an unexpected non-microsoft software issue, I was unable to boot my desktop with XP.  After some time I am now able to boot in safe mode.  When I try a regular boot, I get a message I need to activate.  I'm offer a yes or a no.  If I click yes I go to the backdrop wall paper and either freeze or go back to the yes no question.  If I click no it just trys to reboot and comes back to the same question.

Since I can get no further, I can not set up my internet connection and I do not get to the screen to get a phone number.

I did go to the registery and rename WPA, and re-install that dlb.

I have also been unable to bring up the recovery program.

    Any help will be appreciated

  • Tomdzi,

Since you have already tried all other options, the only one remaining is to backup and offoad your valuable data and do a clean installation of XP, preferably using the Recovery Solution provided by your computer manufacturer.
