  • Hey everyone. I know most people have been experiencing this problem. Could you tell me what to do to make my copy of Windows Genuine without paying $250 again. I took my computer to a computer store and they re-installed my windows. Now, I get this message telling me that I have a fake copy of windows.

    You currently have a nongenuine installation of XP Pro on your computer.  Your Office installation (code 114) is also nongenuine.

    Your Dell 4550 most likely shipped with a valid instalaltion of XP, which would be described on the Certificate of Authenticity affixed to the back or side of the computer.

    Use the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD to install the copy of XP authorized for your computer.
