WGA failure after removing viruses.

Question
-
I'm currently removing a couple of rootkits from my system and, after Avast finished going through all my files and rebooted my system, WGA informed me that my copy of Windows 7 Professional (purchased 5/31/2010 from Newegg) was invalid. For some reason, it had 0x0 in the lower left-hand corner of the dialogue.
I'm probably going to reformat the entire system due to the rootkit, but I'd like to know if I will be wasting my time reinstalling Windows due to WGA screwing up. FYI, this isn't a volume license, I purchased it with my own damn money and can even send the invoice and take a picture of the now-tattered sticker applied to the top of my computer's case.
