Regarding Microsoft Certifications RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am a developer from India, working on .NET for the past 3 yrs. I would love to go for a certification this year.

I have MCPD in my mind. But dont generally know how to proceed?

Also I have one question, I have worked on Windows Forms development for the last 3 years.

I have no idea on web related stuff.

So is it good for me to specialise on Windows related which I know a lil bit or web related which I completely do not know. Pls tel me how to proceed..

    Thanks in advance..

    Regards

  • Here is where to go to find the information your looking for.

No one here is going to be able to answer your question as to the best direction for you to take. That will have to be your choice. My advice. Go in the direction that you know the most. Hopefully, in the process, you will learn more about the areas that you are weak in.
Pick one area. Study for it. Train for it. Test for it.
Then move on to the next.

  • Actually I can it is not practical to be experienced in Winform and be certified in Asp.net because both just use .NET framework Winforms uses Windows state while Asp.net is stateless.  So with Winform experience you can either do Winform MCPD or Enterprise which also require distributed and Asp.net MCTS is VS2005.  In VS2008 Enterprise also include the new .NET 3.0 platform exams.  Check below for details about VS2005 and VS2008 exams, you must know not all VS2008 exams are live.

I was thinking the new ADO.NET MCTS will cover it but I did not see it in the skills measured but the VS2005 Web MCTS exams 70-528 and 70-536 covers XML.  You could say it was at least 10 percent both exams.
