Attachment for Cases RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a workflow that sends an email whenever there is a new case. This email should also contain any attachments for the case. The problem is that attachments can only be added once the new case is saved. At that time the workflow is already being triggered. So how do I execute the workflow only AFTER the attachment has been added?

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the reply. The problem is that sometimes there are notes and sometimes there are not. I could have two workflows, one when the note is created/saved and another one when it is modified (attachment). However, then two emails are sent out although it's just one entry that required an intermediate step because Dynamics does not allow attachments before the record is saved.

I guess the best approach might be to have a wait statement in the workflow creation workflow. There will be a wait statement, i.e. 1 minute, in that workflow. After one minute the workflow will check the latest status and include the attachment if one was added within the wait period.

  • It sounds like you will need to create a workflow on the creation of Notes associated to Cases where the Note has an attachment.  This may take a bit of trial and error to get things working as expected.  I haven't tried to grab the attachment of a note and add it to the attachment of the workflow e-mail.

  • Hi there,

You can also make the workflow onDemand (ie:. user will run the workflow when he uploads the file).
