Windows 7 Genuine Issue? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I built a new computer in November 2009. Purchased and loaded Windows 7 and everything went fine. All updates were done as they were needed all along with no problems. Yesterday, several updates were done and now the WGA says that the sofware is not genuine. What can be done to correct this issue or put the Key Code back in as needed. Was there a problem with the latest Month's Genuine Advantage Tool?

What are you talking about "downloaded" ?  I bought the software from Best Buy and entered the key in the case!

Sorry - misread your original post.
Please download and run the MGADiag report - and post the results. That will give us some real data to work with.

...'downloaded'... is the bit that worries me - from where did you purchase the Key?
The ONLY legal source of Keys for Windows, unless *accompanied by* disks or hardware,  is MS itself (and its partner Digital River).
No matter where you downloaded the software  from (even Digital River) if the Key didn't come from MS, it's not legal.
