I am not aware of any other firewall that is running other than what Kaspersky may use.

In that case it's probably a race condition - and those are notoriously difficult to track down, as the act of looking for them tends to prevent them appearing.A common cause is having more than one anti-virus installed and running real-time protection. Another cause is malware.Try using a 'Clean boot' and see if the problem still occurs.- read about it here.

I can see no real reason for the validation code problem. What happens if you go to validate at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate ?please do so, and report any error messages received, then post a new MGADiag report.

This sounds like a Licensing Store problem.Recreate the Licensing Store
1) Click Start button.
2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
8) Type: net start sppsvc
9) Type: slui.exe
10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically. You may have to use telephone activation.
Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

Follwed the process and I got an "Activation was Succesfull" reboted and re-ran MGADiag. When I rebot, which is how this has always happened, the watermark witht the 7601 error does not initally appear but does after about an hour or so of the computer being turned on. I will see if the watermark comes back. As requested here is a copy of the MGADiag report after reoboot. Thank for your help.

Followed the process above and after an hour or so the message did come back with the "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine". Also the Message "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting" message comes up with a link to "Go online and resolve now" which when I follow that link the message comes back as Windows is authentic. However, the Windows 7 Build 7601 message and black screen remain. And on every boot this same process repeats.

There don't appear to be any problems in the report - was the notification showing at the time you ran it?What Anti-Virus and/or Firewall software are you running? (what AV has ever been installed??)
Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed SlothSunday, May 6, 2012 1:32 AMModerator -
At the time I ran the report there was not a watermark on the screen. It appears anywhere from 1 to 2 hours after the computers has been turned on and running. After a re-boot is is not present. I am using Kasperksy 2012 for Anti-Virus.
