Show week numbers instead of a date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am making a report that just shows when an opportunity was created, I have a field with a date (created on) I want instead of having the date itself, the week number.

Also is it possible to merge two reports into one report where I can show the same report as above but showing when leads were created along with when the opportunities were created.

  • Hi Mohamed,

You can download your report RDL and open it in Visual Studio (Install BIDS for CRM 2011) and then create a function in your report using time functions to give you the week number. I did something sim ilar to find the age of cases in a report based on the createdon field.

  • Hi Gonzalo,

    Thanks for your qucik reply.

What if I am not advanced enough to do all that stuff you told me to do, is there another way to do this using addons for CRM ?

Also I need this to be a ready report for the top management, I cant ask them to do this stuff each time they want the report, they just want to click the link and have the report.

Sorry if I seem as a noob, but you gotta start at some point in life :)

  • I'm afraid there is no way to get the week number from a "createdon" date without writing any code.

Once you edit the report in Visual Studio, you upload the RDL back to CRM and then it will always show the week number, you don't need to do that each time and the top management won't have to know anything about it.

If you are new to reports I recommend downloading the CRM 2011 SDK document, and go through the Visualizations&Dashboards lab, excercise 4 will walk you through creating custom reports which is similar to what you need to do. Also you can visit this links:

  • If you use BIDS as Gonzalo pointed out you can use the DatePart() function to get the week number on the SQL side easily,

Also, In BIDS you can merge reports by using subreports.  BIDS and SSRS is really your best option for what you are trying to do.

Otherwise you will need to put another attribute on your entity and use a .NET or jscript code to do the week count function and the report merge ability is tougher too.
