Add folder to your live Mesh disabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been using mesh between my laptop and desktop without any major problems.  Today I went to work on a Windows XP Pro machine and Mesh installed correctly.  THe problem is, when I added the synchronized the folder, it didn't show up on my desktop.  When I went to add a folder from the computer to the mesh, the option to "Add folder to your live Mesh" is there but it is greyed out and cannot be selected.

Any idea of what could be causing this?

Nope, my tech has repeatedly told me there is no proxy server.  I did connect via remote access the other day from outside the the school onto one of my computers.  I still cannot sync any folders though.  I cannot even add a folder from the cloud onto a computer.

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that none of the suggestions here have helped resolve the issue.  Our devs would like to take a look at your Live Mesh logs in order to investigate this issue more deeply.  If you wouldn't mind, please go ahead and file a bug with your logs attached.  Please include as much information as you can in your bug report (including the suggestions on this thread that did not help resolve the issue).  Once you've filed the bug, if you post your Connect Feedback ID here I will track this internally and let you know as soon as I learn anything.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • Is the XP machine sitting behind an authenticated proxy server that requires login for Internet Access? Live Mesh will install, but it won't actually work. Is your Live Mesh system tray icon showing as not signed in?

  • What folder are you trying to synchronize?  There are some folders that Mesh will not synchronize today, like your Desktop folder, or a folder that contains other Live Mesh folders, or system folders, etc.  Using this troubleshooting guide may help.

  •  I am just trying to access a regular folder that is on my desktop at home.  There is no login required to get to the internet, but there is a password necessary to get to the network resources.  The computer is already signed into the network though.

  • If you are trying to sync with a folder that is located on a network drive, that can't be done currently.

  • The folder itself is not a network resource, it is just a file on the computer.  My computer is on a network, but the folder is not on the network.  I can access the internet via port 80.

  • Is that a proxy server setting for port 80? Port 80 is the port that an http server typically listens for traffic on - a web server, for example.
