Counterfeit Messages RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are rolling out Office 2007 to our users.  Our users run with restricted privileges.  When they go to download templates they get the counterfeit Office 2007 message.  Once we log in as Admin (or RunAs), they can download the templates just fine.  The problem is we done want to have to log in as admin for 200+ users.

  • Hello Ptmagnus,

Thank you for posting in the OGA Forums. Please ask your systems administrator to logon to the eOpen site (
https://eopen.microsoft.com/EN/default.asp) and confirm what your company’s assigned Volume Licensing Key "VLK" is for Office 2007.  Sometimes how customers find themselves in this situation is that when their IT department was creating their VL image to be deployed to their desktops, they sometimes inadvertently use an incorrect product key because it was handy.

This is why you were seeing the "Software Counterfeiting" messages on your computer, because the current installation of Office 2007is an unauthorized installation.

2    First we need you to please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool then post the unedited results back in this thread. Choose any system and please follow the sticky post located here:  http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuineoffice/thread/8d640c5d-bb4b-4fcf-88d5-42355ed957ae  This will allow us to analyze Office 2007 which is installed.

Where did you actually purchase the copy of Office 2007 from?

    Thank you,

    Stephen Holm
