Can't install AHCI? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Trying to setup a new WHS with AHCI enabled (as the NCQ would be very useful given how WHS manages files) but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.  I've failed every possible way trying to install WHS with AHCI enabled - and finally gave up after reading here you can switch to AHCI post-install.

But how does one do that?

The board I'm using is based on the ICH9 chipset - so I've downloaded the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager.  When I try to install this, however, I receive the error:

This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software.  Setup will exit.

I suspect this is because the AHCI is not enabled in the BIOS - so the Intel driver doesn't see any reason to install the software.  But I can't enable the AHCI until I do install the software, because obviously then I can't boot the WHS. Stick out tongue
