I suggest uninstalling One Care, using the cleanup tool - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=828910&SiteID=2 then reinstalling One Care.
If the issue persists please contact support. How to reach support - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

I still cannot sucessfully check for updates. I tried every item on the help and support worksheet. The only step I get any reaction from is is regestering dll files. The only one I got to register is softpub.dll. With all the others I got errocodes or cannot find messages. This seems to be my problem since it is the only step that gives me any reaction. What should I do now? Zack.
