Validation fails Office 2003 re-install but passes with 2007 upgrade - both genuine licences

Question
-
I changed my PC and re-installed Office 2003. The old machine was scrapped. I then upgraded the new PC with Office 2007. Both versions are genuine versions. Validation on 2003 failed but validation on 2007 upgrade passed. I am getting validation failure because of the earlier version of Office. I thought I was able to transfer an installation of Office onto a new PC under the basis that the original PC was no longer in use. Can anyone help?Monday, January 26, 2009 8:07 AM

Hello Highimpact,
Please run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Test (MGADT) so that I may analyze the results.
By clicking the link below, you will download the MGADT. Then click the Run button. Then click the Run button again. Then click the Continue button to perform the diagnostic. The Windows tab should show, click the Copy button to paste your report to the clipboard. Then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum by adding a post in it and pressing Ctrl V (to paste the text). Clicking the OK button will clear the Diagnostic window. Here is the download link:

Please tell us about the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for your copy of Microsoft Office.
1. What edition/version of Office do you have? To find your edition/version click Start, Word Options, Resources, About, there you should find the title of your edition.
2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
4. Please provide the customer scenario you are experiencing.
5. DO NOT post the Product Key.
Not sure what to look for, see this page to reference your COA:
NOTE: The data collected with the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you. The information can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.
Thank you.

Good Morning :-),
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 was installed using a now blocked Volume licensing key. Please see the following excerpt from your MGA Diagnostic Report:
OGA Data-->
Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK 2
This installation is causing Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003, and Microsoft Office Standard 2007 from being Genuine. In order for the upgrade version to work you must have a full version of a prior installation. Please visit http://www.microsoft.com/piracy and file a piracy report.Take care,
Stephen

Version of Office - Word 2007 (12.0.6331.5000) SP1 MSO
Part of Microsoft Office Standard 2007
This was an upgrade purchased to upgrade an earlier copy of Office.
At the same time, I moved PC's, re-installed the earlier version of Office and then installed the upgrade.
I believe it is the earlier version of Office that is failing the Genuine Validation check, however, this is also a legitimate version.
