Black Screen on Genuine Windows 7 starter RRS feed

  • I spilled Coffee on my laptop and the motherboard had to be changed. My organisation has GetGenuine OEM licenses so i've used it and my copy of Windows is now licensed but I still have the black screen. How do I resolve it please? Answers

  • Please read the GetGenuine EULA - they specifically state that they cannot be moved to new computers.

    MS's definition of a new computer is effectively the motherboard.

    Therefore the chances are very small that you are using a valid license.

    That said, the installed Product Key here is for an OEM System Builder License - which is NOT a GetGenuine one.

    If this is the license on the COA sticker attached to that machine, then you *may* be able to talk MS into activating it.

    in the Search box, type

    SLUI   4

    and hit the Enter key

    follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you
