Turning PAE Mode Off? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently noticed that my WSH box cannot go into Hibernation mode if the power fails.

Trying to enable Hibernation, I got this:

    Microsoft Windows [Version 5.2.3790]
    (C) Copyright 1985-2003 Microsoft Corp.
    c:\>powercfg.exe /hibernate on
Hibernation failed with the following error: The request is not supported.
The following items are preventing hibernation on this system.
The system is running in PAE mode, and hibernation is not allowed in PAE mode.

Any way to turn PAE off?   I've only got 4 gigs in the box and don't care (at least I don't *think* I care...) if it only sees 3.

Or is this just a Bad Idea?

  • In boot.ini, remove the "/PAE".

This information is available on Technet, MSDN, support.microsoft.com., etc. Please learn to use search engines first …

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
