I cheked the porpertyues for the Software Protection Service and it is showing Automated(Delayed State), but is not started.
I tired to retsart from the same dialogue box (i.e. use the 'start' button and it failed with error 2: The system cannot fiind the specified file.
I have since tried starting directly through te command prompt using net start sppsvc, but this also fails with the same error (not unepcetedly).
Here is another MGADiag report as it stands at this moment.
NOTE: I still have not attemptd a reboot, as the machine is operational - and I worry that it wont restart at all!!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about a reboot - the theory is that the system will continue to work, albeit with a certain amount of restrictions on usage (Media Player, MSE, and a few other things) but that it should continue to function much as normal. Please run the following commands from an Elevated Command Prompt.sc qc sppsvc
sc queryex sppsvc
sc qprivs sppsvc
sc qsidtype sppsvc
sc sdshow sppsvc
copy and paste the results into your response, hopefully it'll give us something to work with.....The only reasons (that I know of) for getting the "System Error 2 The system cannot find the file specified." error is either:a) The file(s) are missing. (i.e. The files are not located in their proper folder)orb) The registry entry that tells Windows were to find the file(s) is messed up in some way. (i.e. Windows doesn't know what folder to look in or is being told to look in the wrong folder)

Click the Start Orb & type cmd.exe into the search menu.
Right click it and Run as adminstrator.
Type the following command: sfc /scannow & hit enter.
Wait for the process to finish, when it's done reboot the system.
Click the Start Orb again this time type in Services.msc into the search menu.
Click the icon that looks like a cog wheel & maximize the active window.
Scroll down to you find to you find Software Protection. Right click it and click properties.
Make sure the Startup Type is set to Automatic (Delayed Start) & click the apply button.
Reboot the system once more then try & Validate Online to become genuine again.

Your problem is that (probably) the Software Protection Service is not running.....
Click on Start
in the Search box, type
SERVICES.MSC
and hit the Enter key - accept the UAC prompt if you get one.
Look in the console for the Software Protection service, right-click on it and select Properties.
make sure that the Startup Type is set to Automatic (Delayed Start), and click Apply.
Try starting the service now - do you get an error message? Does it start? does it almost immediately stop again?
Post back with your results, and a new MGADiag report.
