Windows 7

Question

I'm looking into getting a certification on Windows 7 after I finish my MCAS.
What's the difference between the 70-680, 70-685 and 70-686?
What book/s/resources would you recommend?
Is this one any good?
Windows 7 Administrator's Pocket Consultant.
And what about this one: Windows 7 Inside Out?
Cheers. Any insights most welcome. :)

Good Morning,
For these exams there are training guides that can assist with this, you will be able to see these here <select link>
The Windows 7 Administrator's Pocket Consultant is a good book and I used this to pass 70-680 and 70-686 but I had also recently completed Windows Vista training and used the Vista 70-620 and 70-622 training guides as a reference towards this.
You will need to complete the Windows 7 exam 70-680 regardless of what cert you are looking to complete in Windows 7.
Review the skills measured on tab 2 of the exam description and you will want to ensure you know this information.
The 70-685 Exam covers Enterprise Desktop Support and will suit for someone who wishes to get into or is working in supporting the desktop and user level systems.
The 70-686 Exam covers Enterprise Desktop Administration and will suit for someone who is working with build, maintenance, licensing and SOE/Active Directory.
In total, to achieve MCITP you will need 2 of the exams, review the links on the exam numbers I have provided and review what you feel will be best for you.
Best of luck, either will be a good choice.

So there are 3 exams in total.
Why is the 70-680 necessary? Is it not a stand-alone exam?
Are there any tips you could share regarding these certs?
Cheers.

The 70-680 is the Windows 7 configuration exam and this covers the base line installation, setup and configuration of Windows 7.
You are able to sit the other exams without this but if you do not have 70-680 you will not receive the MCITP certification after completing the other exams.
There for this exam is the best place to start.
From here you can sit either 70-685 or 70-686 to gain MCITP. You will only need to sit 1 of these 2 exams.
Have a look at the links in my first post to get an overview of the certification each one provides as they are different.
If you want to sit both then you can and this will get you 2 MCITP certifications, you only need 1 to gain MCITP though.

Thanks!
From the reviews I've been reading on Amazon (both .com and co.uk), there doesn't seem to be a good book on the 70-680 exam.
Can anyone recommend books/sites/resources?
Cheers.

Hi,
the links don't seem to work. Is it possible you provide the titles, so I can search for them?
Thanks.
