I have a ThinkPad with a license of Windows XP that was purchased with the computer.
I now run Windows XP on that laptop with the license key on the bottom of my ThinkPad from within a virtual machine on the same computer. Now Windows Genuine Advantage says that I don't have a valid windows license?!? despite the fact that I'm using the same Windows XP key, on the bottom of my laptop?!? How is this possible? How can I get Windows Genuine Advantange to recognize my copy on my machine as legitamate?
Your OEM Windows XP license can only be installed on the computer it originally came with. You cannot use that same license in a virtual machine. Installing Windows XP in a virtual machine would require the purchase of a new license.Carey Frisch
